My sweet boy

I've never been a purse swapper. I buy one purse, and I use it until it starts to show its age. Then I move on. I respect good quality in purses, and I love my black leather Coach Hobo bag that I've had for the past two years. But I don't need another, and I don't feel the need to have a collection of them. It's a purse.

However, this isn't the point of this post as you can tell from the title.

Sean and I were out shopping a few weeks ago. We happened to be in a store with a display of Vera Bradley bags (if you know purses, then you know what I'm talking about), and I casually mentioned to him that I was considering one of them for my trip to Boston with Pam. I wanted something a little lighter to carry around the city since I know that we will be walking a lot, and I thought it would be perfect. He agreed, said it was nice, and we moved on. I was considering it. I figured I would stop back by and pick it up at some point before I left for Boston.

This past weekend we all went out for dinner. As we arrived at the restaurant Sean asked if I would take Bren and Erin in, and he and Brian would be in to join us shortly after. I gave him one of my "what are you up to" looks, and took the two inside to get a table. We had just walked out of another restaurant after waiting 70 minutes to be served (after ordering), and I was ready to eat, and not amused at having to wait for them to get back. But I did.

About 15 minutes later they returned. Sean had a gift bag in his hand, and a huge grin on his face as he walked toward the table. He handed me the bag. In it was a card that reads:

THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU

For being the best mom we could ever have
we are so lucky

Love
Sean
Bren
Erin

Also inside of the bag was the mini hipster Vera Bradley bag in Java Blue that I had pointed out to Sean several weeks before. Not only did he remember the exact pattern and color, but the exact style and size of the bag...EXACTLY! In the few seconds that he looked at the bag with me he got it all. He paid enough attention to it all, and it was important enough to him to remember it so that he could go back and get it for me later. Damn. This kid is going to make some woman so happy some day. But for now, he is sure making me one happy mom. Not because he spent $50 of his money on a purse for me, but because he's considerate, thoughtful, thankful, caring and compassionate. When I asked him why he bought this bag for me he said, "Because you work hard, mom. You deserve something nice for yourself every once in a while. I wanted you to have it.". Who's pre-teen son says that? MINE DOES!!!!!! And I'm the lucky one!

Liz and Lee

The wedding was beautiful. Liz and Lee were married at Enzo's in Orlando on Saturday, followed by a family reception on Sunday. I'm only posting these two pictures since Liz hasn't seen them yet (haven't done any editing on them yet). The picture of Mike, Liz's big brother, walking her down the aisle is one of my favorites. I was happy to have caught them looking at one another when they did.
